Project Setup: Customizing the Look and Feel

Tailor the look and functionality of your AI experience—depending on your selected application type. (Web Page or Web Widget)

The Project Setup menu on the left-hand side of the Rapport interface provides tools to shape the visual identity, session behaviour, and interaction flow for Web Page and Web Widget projects.

Not all features apply to both types—so we’ve highlighted which settings are Web Page only, Web Widget only, or shared.

Start Message (Web Page & Web Widget)

Define what your character says at the start of the session.

• Write a custom message

• Use a script or audio asset

• Create and save new script/audio assets from here

Use this to greet users, introduce characters, or give context to the experience.

Logo (Web Page Only)

Upload a logo that appears in the top-right corner of the session.

This option is only available for Web Page applications. It is not shown for Web Widgets.

Background (Web Page & Web Widget)

Customize the session’s background:

• Colour – Choose from the colour picker or enter a HEX code

• Gradient – Blend colours for modern background effects

• Image – Upload a background image

This setting applies to both Web and Widget formats.

Theme (Web Page Only)

Themes define the appearance of the chat interface.

Choose from pre-built visual combinations like:

• Light / Blue

• Dark / Red

• Light / Grey

• …and more

This setting only applies to Web applications. Widgets use default styling and ignore Theme settings.

Controls

The Controls section allows you to configure behaviour and interactivity—but availability varies by application type:

Experience (Web Page Only)

• Automatically start on page load – The session launches immediately

• Manually start using a 'Start' button – Adds a start button for manual control

Interactions (Web Page Only)

• Microphone muted by default – Controls mic icon state at launch

• Speaker muted by default – Controls speaker icon state

• Show chat toggle – Show/hide a toggle button to display the chat log

• Allow users to rotate the character – Enable or disable avatar rotation

Available Controls (Web page Only)

• Show chat transcript by default – Determines whether the chat log is visible at start

• Show end session button – Adds a button to close the session (Web only)

• Text input for chat – Displays a type-to-chat input field

• Push to talk – Adds a walkie-talkie-style interaction button
