Project Setup: Appearance & Interaction
Overview
Once you’ve chosen your application type (Web Page or Web Widget), you can tailor the visual design, layout, and interactivity of your Rapport experience directly in Rapport Studio.
Note: For Unreal and Unity plugins, visual customisation is managed within those environments. Rapport Studio handles AI, language, and behavioural configuration, while branding, scene layout, and camera presentation are configured in Unreal or Unity.
All appearance and interaction options for Web-based projects are found in the Project Setup menu on the left side of Rapport Studio.
Some options reference assets stored in your Workspace Asset Library, allowing reusable content such as scripts, audio, background images, and logos to be used across multiple projects.
Not every feature applies to both Web Pages and Web Widgets — see the feature table below for details.

Make It Yours
Rapport projects can be fully branded and personalised to fit your organisation’s tone, colour scheme, and purpose.
You can modify:
Start Message – The first thing your character says.
Logo – Add your brand’s logo (Web Page only).
Background – Choose a colour, gradient, or image.
Theme – Set the chat interface style (Web Page only).
Controls – Define how users interact.
Info Panel – Add contextual instructions or training notes.
Start Message
The Start Message defines what your character says when a user first starts a session.
The Start Message panel allows you to choose how this introduction is delivered.
You can configure it using:
Text
Write a greeting or introduction directly in the editor.
Script
Select a reusable Script Asset from your Workspace Asset Library.
Audio
Use a pre-recorded Audio Asset to play a voice message when the session begins.
These options appear as tabs within the Start Message panel.
Start Messages are commonly used to:
Welcome users to the experience
Introduce the scenario or objective
Provide instructions before interaction begins
Scripts and audio used here are managed in the Asset Library, allowing them to be reused across multiple projects.
Logo (Web Page Only)
You can add a custom logo that appears in the top-right corner of your web page.
Logos can be added in three ways:
Upload a new image
Select an existing logo from your saved Assets
Choose a public image available in Rapport Studio
Using assets allows logos to be reused across multiple projects, helping maintain consistent branding.
This option is not available for Web Widgets.
Background
Customise the visual background to match your brand or storytelling.
You can choose from several background styles.
Colour
Pick from the colour picker or enter a HEX code.
Gradient
Blend colours for a polished, modern look.
Image
Choose a background image using one of the following options:
Upload a new image
Select an image from your saved Assets (My Images)
Choose a Public image available in Rapport Studio
Background images can now be stored as reusable Image Assets in Rapport Studio. This allows teams to upload images once and reuse them across multiple projects, making it easier to maintain consistent branding and visual design.

Theme (Web Page Only)
Themes define the visual style of your chat interface.
You can choose from several built-in styles to adjust the look of the conversation area.
Web Widgets do not support theme switching — they always use the default style to maintain consistent embedding across websites.
Info Panel
The Info Panel is an optional overlay that displays contextual information or guidance inside the experience.
It’s particularly useful for:
Interactive training
Guided role-play
Scenario-based learning
What You Can Use It For
Display scenario goals during learning exercises
Show brand messaging or safety notes
Provide step-by-step tasks for the user to follow
How to Use
Go to Project Setup → Info Panel
Toggle Enable / Disable
Enter the text or instructions you want visible to end-users.

Many templates include a preconfigured Info Panel that introduces:

Recommendations
✅ Use Web Page if you want full control over layout, branding, and interactivity.
✅ Use Web Widget for embedding in a host site — simpler setup, faster integration, and a lighter footprint.
✅ Use Start Messages to clearly introduce your experience and guide users before interaction begins.
✅ Store commonly used backgrounds and logos as Assets so they can be reused across projects.
✅ For Unreal or Unity, configure visuals and branding directly in the engine — Rapport Studio focuses on logic, AI, and character behaviour.
